Privacy Policy
Effective date: 28 March 2026
img.lu is operated from Luxembourg and is fully committed to protecting your privacy in line with the GDPR and Luxembourg data protection law.
We follow strict data minimization principles: we collect only what is strictly necessary to provide the image compression service and to ensure its technical stability.
Information We Collect
Technical Data (Automatically Collected)
- Anonymized or pseudonymized IP address
- Basic device and browser information
- Usage statistics for load management and service improvement
We use Simple Analytics, a privacy-first EU-based tool that does not collect personal data, does not use tracking cookies, and does not enable user profiling. All data remains aggregated and anonymous.
Images You Upload
You can upload images for compression and conversion to WebP/AVIF. These images are processed temporarily on our servers and automatically deleted shortly after you download the result (usually within minutes). We do not store your images long-term or for any other purpose.
We do not require accounts, email addresses, or any other personal identifiers.
Lawful Basis and Purpose
We process limited technical data based on legitimate interest (providing and securing the service). Image processing is necessary for the performance of the service you request.
This approach fully aligns with GDPR principles and the spirit of the EU Data Act, which promotes user control and fair handling of data generated through digital services.
Data Retention
- Uploaded images: deleted automatically after processing and download.
- Technical logs: retained only as long as needed for security and performance (typically a few days).
Your GDPR Rights
You have the right to: - Access, rectify, or erase your data - Restrict or object to processing - Lodge a complaint with the Luxembourg Commission Nationale pour la Protection des Données (CNPD)
Given the minimal nature of our processing, most requests can be handled quickly.
International Transfers
We do not transfer personal data outside the European Economic Area.
